What is Club Catch Challenge?
Club Catch Challenge invites junior cricketers to catch as many balls as they can in 30 seconds during Children’s Week (22-30 October 2022), to help keep other children safe.
Children from around Australia can catch at home, training or before a game, and each day of the Challenge log their daily catch total in a catch log.
Young participants will love racing the clock to test their catching skills, earning fundraising badges and fundraising to help other children who are doing it tough.
It takes cricket practice to a new level of heart-racing excitement!
And it’s a fun and fast warm up for the cricket season!
This thrilling new Challenge is a partnership between the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, Cricket Australia and grassroots junior cricket clubs. The campaign is also supported by the Hobart Hurricanes.

Club Catch Challenge Ambassador, Ella Hayward
At only 19 years of age, Ella has already taken the cricket world by storm. She started playing cricket at her local club at just 9 years old and by 11 years old she played for the state in the U12’s national championships. For the upcoming 2021-2022 Season, Ella will continue to be a part of the WNCL for Victoria & the Melbourne Renegades. As our official ambassador, Ella is passionate about inspiring the next generation of cricketers, and thinks Club Catch Challenge will take cricket practice to a new level of heart-racing excitement!
Ella's catching tips:
- Have a wide stance – so your feet are in line with your hips
- Keep your eyes peeled for the ball
- Reach for the ball with your whole body as it comes towards you
- Once you connect with the ball, grasp it tightly with your fingers and squeeze
The difference your catch makes
Every hour of every day, at least one child in Australia is taken into the care of child protection authorities, as they are at serious risk of harm or have no other safe place to live.
The Alannah & Madeline Foundation champions the right of children and young people to be safe from violence and trauma. We want every child and young person to grow up feeling safe where they live, learn and play – including on the cricket field!
With Club Catch Challenge, every ball that your junior cricketers catch and every dollar they raise will support the Foundation’s care, prevention and advocacy programs – from supporting children experiencing family violence to stopping online bullying and fighting for the rights of young people.
When you sign up for Club Catch Challenge, you are helping the Alannah & Madeline Foundation and Cricket Australia ensure our shared goal of protecting children can become a reality.
